Cris Collinsworth can be quite the strange guy at times because he says whatever is on his mind, and much of the time, it has nothing to do with football.

During Sunday Night Football, the crew discussed Chiefs fullback Carson Steele’s ownership of a pet alligator.

Cris Collinsworth really took a liking to this story and got animated as he started thinking about someone breaking into his home and seeing an alligator inside.

Social media thought this was quite weird.

In the meantime, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Cris Collinsworth is reportedly nearing a deal with NBC Sports to remain as the lead NFL game analyst through the end of the decade.

The agreement means Collinsworth would call two more Super Bowls and analyze NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” prime-time games alongside Mike Tirico through the 2029-2030 season.

According to Marchand, his current deal has him bringing in $12.5 million a year.

His new deal is expected to be a four-year agreement. The financial part has not yet been released.

If we had to guess, his numbers should be somewhere around what CBS’s Tony Romo and ESPN’s Troy Aikman bring in, which is $18 million a year with their respective deals.

Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady earns $37.5 million a year with Fox.

Cris Collinsworth has been in the broadcast booth for more than three decades.
