(CNN) – The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, could soon add another title to his roster – the world’s first trillionaire.

Informa Connect Academy says the Tesla CEO is on track to earn the position by 2027.

It says his net worth has been growing rapidly at an average rate of 100% per year.

The often-controversial CEO has a sprawling business empire that spans from electric vehicles and social media to space rockets and miniature brain implants.

His fortune is estimated at nearly $250 billion now.

Nvidia’s CEO and co-founder Jensen Huang and Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is also vying for the trillionaire title.
